Life of Pi – By Yann Martel

I came up to this book at a moment when I had a lot of free time and was looking for some inspiration about life, but it now seems to me as if in fact the book came up to me.

I have to admit that I am no fan of fiction genre (I didn’t even watch Life of Pi, the movie, for that reason!). Having said that, Yann Martel witty narrative makes the reader doubt whether it is possible to spend more than six months with a Bengal tiger (a.k.a Richard Parker) on a small boat wandering around the Pacific.

Yann Martel walks the reader trough Pi´s adventurous journey in such a descriptive way that it makes it really feel each of the many emotions Pi went trough: happiness, fear, sadness, hope, hopelessness, and pain.

Additionally, LIFE of Pi is a great book for animal lovers (count me in!). The way Pi and his family treat and read the animals and their behaviors at the zoo in Pondicherry and on the boat, seems so obvious that it makes the reader wonder why it hasn’t tried those tactics before when being around animals.

Finally, deep inside LIFE of PI, there is an invitation to always see things from different perspectives and to understand that when life seems like knocking you down, it is really telling you that you can do better, be better.
